The Power Nap

Rest is more important to your success than you can imagine.

For some reason most think that with all I do, I don't sleep much. I would have to tell you that they would be wrong. I not only sleep at a reasonable time, which is somewhere around 11pm but I also work at taking a daily power nap. My body always lets me know when its time to shut down and regroup and I try my best to listen as often as possible. In todays society this opportunity to sleep in the middle of the day is almost impossible with work, family and life so I understand the true importance of this privilege. With all of the constant ideas and projects I'm involved in and waking up at 5am, my mind is exhausted by 11am. An hour or two power nap refreshes my energy and gets me right back into the game.

I suggest that if you are really good at what you do, make a way to take this power nap if you can. Your body, mind and spirit will appreciate it. Take a recharge any time you can. Event if it's a 20 minute break, make it happen. Don't be afraid to get the appropriate amount of sleep every night as well. I remember when I was younger, I heard P. Diddy say, Sleep when you're dead!". I actually believed that nonsense for a while and tried to work all day and night but felt horrible and unfocussed. As I became older I realized that our bodies need sleep to reconnect with our spirit self and without that you are a slave to this world. I could not continue to allow that to happen, so sleep became just as important to me as being awake. Sleep my friend, sleep!

When is the last time that you took a power nap?
